Resource Planning Capabilities in MS Project
A resource is what will be needed to complete project tasks - people, equipment, materials, etc.
You can engage in resource planning in Project in order to:

  • Simply assign those responsible for completing each task - the simplest path that many self-taught users take
  • Understand how many of which resources will be needed for a new project. Here Project is a good assistant, to whom it is enough to tell how many of which resources are needed for each separate task. The program itself will calculate (from bottom to top), how much is needed for the project as a whole
  • See how evenly resources are loaded in the project, whether there are enough of them to complete all tasks on time, whether people are “hanging” without work
  • If necessary - perform load balancing of labor resources, replan tasks with the aim of realistic planning
  • Calculate the cost of the project, based on the cost of participation in it of each resource
  • Regularly receive reports on the work performed from labor resources, enter actual data into the program and receive plan-factual analysis, analysis of the volume mastered, and also, if necessary, easily correct plans.

This is only part of the capabilities that I will try to reveal in the following materials.
